Sunday School Class Weekly Update

February 26, 2017
Dear Families of the Children in our Grade School Class,
We hope you’re are having a wonderful week.
Next Sunday we will begin our Lenten journey. We hope to see all of you at the Pancake Supper this Tuesday 5-7. A yummy time will be had by all, as we celebrate Fat Tuesday together.
These past three Sundays we have explored “Saying Yes to God”, Deuteronomy 30:15-20, Choosing God’s Ways Leviticus 19:1-2,9-18 and finally this last Sunday “Listening to Jesus” Matthew 17:1-9.
Transfiguration Sunday can be a bit tricky. We approached that by discussing the physical changes we see in our own lives. Sometimes we can understand these changes, especially as we grow older, and sometimes science brings us new information. However, sometimes there are things we just cannot explain about life.
Maybe one of the best ways to tackle these challenges in life can be found in our text. We are told that during the Transfiguration the voice of God came to the disciples and gave them the charge to “Listen to Jesus”. Studying Jesus’s words as revealed in the Bible is a great way to start to tackle some of these issues. Jesus may also be speaking to us through our pastor, adults who love us and often the nature around us. We looked at these and many other ways with your child.
Because our curriculum follows the Lectionary, this lesson continued during Extended Session. We hope you will continue these conversations with your child. Please feel free to call to our attention to any issues you may have regarding your child or children’s attendance in Sunday School and church.
Have a blessed week!
We will see you next Sunday.
Yours in God’s service, Chris Pistorious, Linda May and Verna Robinson

  1. Ask your child what the word Doxology means. We are learning the Doxology we sing at Sixth.
