Maundy Thursday at Home

Can you believe Holy Week is here already?  Thursday is what is known as Maundy Thursday Please join us at Sixth Church this Thursday for a service in the Chapel at 7 p.m.  We will celebrate communion, read scriptures and share an Agape feast.

What exactly does Maundy Thursday mean?
Maundy Thursday is the name given to the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples, known as the Last Supper. Also, during this time together scripture tells us that Jesus washed the disciples’ feet as an act of humility and service. The word Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command.” The “Maundy” in “Maundy Thursday” refers to the command Jesus gave to the disciples at the Last Supper, that they should love and serve one another.

BuildingFaith.org is a great site with resources and ideas for honoring these special days at home.  I love the idea of Stripping Down the Table at home to prepare for Good Friday and Easter. Try this with your family! Click the link below and find everything you need to do this at home.
