What we are reading for the Easter Season

Here are some things we will be reading with the Sunday school and extended session kids over the next two weeks.

Benjamin's Box is a great way to tell the story of Jesus beginning with Palm Sunday.  The book is meant to be read along with the set of Resurrection Eggs (pictured) here. In each egg there is a symbol of something that goes along with the story - and the story directs you to open an egg as you read along.

This is a wonderful story of a Papa Bear who lovingly explains God’s plans for his children, while the little bear on a walk and sharing how Easter came about.  It's uses really clear and simple language that's great for preschoolers.

I love this book! It's the story of a little caterpillar who wants to be something more. The pictures are fantastic! The book has a lovely message about God's ever-present love during hard times. The ending reminds us that  “the struggle... is what gives you wings!”  It's not exactly an  Easter story but does explore the theme of change and resurrection.

This is a quick read through the Easter story told in simple rhyming sentences. It's probably best for older elementary students as it is a little darker and emphasizes Jesus' suffering.

Who doesn't love the Berenstain Bears? This books follows along the bear children as they go to church and watch an Easter drama with their Sunday school teacher.

Please feel free to borrow any of these books to read at home!
